Trip itinerary
Day 1: Tangier to Fes
After breakfast, you will leave Tangier for Fes (approximately 4 hours away). Check into your hotel before venturing out to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Fes medina. This medina is one of the world’s largest and best maintained, so bring a map or hire a guide.
Visit the Chouara Tannery to see how leather is tanned using traditional techniques. Then, proceed to the Bou Inania Madrasa, a lovely Koranic school. Take a look at the elaborate tilework and cedarwood sculptures.
In the evening, dine on a traditional Moroccan meal at one of the medina’s many eateries.
Day 2: Fes to Merzouga
After breakfast, you will leave Fes for Merzouga (approximately 7 hours distant). This community is located on the outskirts of the Sahara Desert, making it an ideal location for experiencing the desert sands and dunes.
Check into your hotel before embarking on a camel trip into the desert. Enjoy a typical Moroccan dinner at your campsite after watching the sunset over the dunes.
Day 3: Merzouga to Ouarzazate
After breakfast, you will return to Merzouga by camel. Check out of your hotel and drive to Ouarzazate (approximately 6 hours).
Ouarzazate is regarded as “Hollywood of Morocco” because it has served as a filming location for numerous movies and television shows, including “Gladiator,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and “Game of Thrones.”
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios, where you can view some of the items and sets used in famous movies.
In the evening, dine on a traditional Moroccan meal at one of Ouarzazate’s many restaurants.
Day 4: Ouarzazate to Marrakech
After breakfast, you will leave Ouarzazate for Marrakech (approximately 4 hours distant). Marrakech is one of Morocco’s most famous tourist destinations, noted for its colorful medina, gorgeous gardens, and energetic ambiance.
Check into your hotel before venturing out to see the Jemaa el-Fnaa, the medina’s main square. Snake charmers, musicians, food vendors, and other attractions can be found here.
Visit Morocco’s largest mosque, the Koutoubia Mosque, and the Bahia Palace, a 19th-century palace with lush gardens and elaborate tilework.
In the evening, enjoy a typical Moroccan supper at one of the medina’s many eateries, followed by a traditional Moroccan music performance.
Day 5: Marrakech to Tangier
After breakfast, you will depart Marrakech for Tangier (approximately 6 hours away). If you have time, stop at the Jardin Majorelle, a lovely botanical garden, before leaving Marrakech.
When you get in Tangier, you can either go to the airport for your journey home or stay and see the city.
